I have a Ford Edge 2018 and had my battery die. In the process of trying to jump start it, there were some other problems. When I called, I got prompt service and a clear expectation of time frame for repairs. It turned out to be more complicated but I was kept informed of all issues found. I’ve found it has gotten harder to find technicians that have the equipment needed to diagnose and/or repair a Saab, and I’m often referred to another technician or shop (though it feels more like bounced around than referred). Although it is stated on the website, today I called to double-check that they can work on Saabs. I spoke with Daniel who was very polite and reassuring. I have scheduled an appointment for my car and *fingers crossed* will be able to have any repairs done locally! *UPDATE* Shadetree automotive technicians are outstanding and definitely trained to work on Saabs. They found the reason my Saab was struggling when first starting up. Also, in the past, I had mentioned an oil leak to another repair shop (three different times) and they insisted there was no oil leak and it was just spillover from an oil change. Shadetree found the minor leak, without me ever saying a thing (I gave up on mentioning it), and explained it was minor, then gave me all my options (including just keeping an eye on it). They really looked at my car, thoroughly, and knew what they were doing. As a female, I really loved that Shadetree never once tried to sell me on a bunch of useless things or unnecessary items. They were very transparent in everything they did. Not one single sales pitch for an air filter (or anything else). I also felt like they explained everything to me the same way in which they explained things to my husband. They simply text (or email) everything you need to know about your car's performance (color-coded so you know the severity of any issues) and let you call them to ask any questions and tell them what you would like done. Another thing I really appreciated is I only ever spoke about my car's issues to one technician, Russ (who is absolutely awesome). This seems insignificant, but he knew about my car, didn't have to ask other technicians about things, and I never had to say "when I spoke with __ they said __." He knew my car, he knew me, and he knew our previous conversations, making every call seamless. They were very upfront with all costs before I committed to any work being done, and I left without a single surprise cost on my bill. Shadetree technicians are very honest, friendly, and understanding. I haven't been more confident in an auto repair shop and I will absolutely be using Shadetree from here on out. *P.S. - The cookie rumors are true, and they are delicious! Thank you Shadetree!!!

I could not be more impressed. After taking my Acura to a dealer it would barely run. I got it to Lisa at Shadetree a week before my scheduled appointment and she gave me a loaner. They could not look at it for another week but I had a loaner! After running diagnostics I received a review of all the issues with my car. Very impressive! I had a check engine light on my Audi. They ran a diagnostic test, and I received a very detailed report with photos of every thing they found and recommended. Usually take my 2007 F150 to dealer, however they were booked out till late Nov. My 80yo Mother-n-law used them, they treated her fair and did a good job on her vehicle so thought give them a go. Daniel got me hooked up and quick appointment, even got some of my military humor or just laughed along.. either way he was friendly, professional, and went over thorough. Only hiccup I had was a part damaged in shipment, not their fault so delayed a bit, price's seemed reasonable except maybe one area but with inflation right now and shipping problems seemed legit. I am new to this area and have been looking for an auto repair place that I can trust with people who treat me like they want my business. This is the place! From beginning to end they were most professional. They went over every detail of what my car needed and explained it all so that I could understand. Since my husband recently died, I had to talk to some friends before I made a decision on what to have done, and I was very emotional explaining that to Daniel. It must have been awkward for him, but he was so patient and kind. The repair was going to take a few days, and they had a loaner car for me at no cost. Shade Tree Automotive is the OnLy place I’ll take my BMW to now. They were absolutely amazing. They kept me up to date daily and were nothing but respectful and professional. My BMW had some very extensive repairs needed and it had to be there for 5 days and during that time, they gave me a perfect loaner car so I wasn’t stranded or breaking my wallet to rent a car. Their prices were fair and much lower than the other places I had taken it for estimates, places that specialize in only European cars, but at Shade Tree they have a BMW specialist and like I said before, it’s the only place I’ll take my car to again. My BMW is a limited model and they only made it for a couple years so it was hard for others to find the right parts, but Shade Tree had no issue at all and my car drives like it did when I bought it brand new. Thanks to Russ and Daniel for keeping me posted and being so awesome!!

I had an exhaust pipe break and hit the brake lines on my truck, on Highway 89 near Layton, on a Sunday and Holiday, with a camper in tow. I was on my way to a good holiday weekend, but instead found myself stranded on the highway, with my family and our doggie. I was feeling quite unlucky on the side of the road, on a day that everything was closed. But alas! I found Shadetree on Google and used their free towing service. The tow truck came on a Holiday Sunday and took my truck to the shop. I was prepared for a large bill, and I was feeling super bummed about the whole situation. But Shadetree worked quickly and sent detailed pictures of the issues and asked me which items I wanted to have repaired. I loved that they showed me the problems, so I could see them with my own eyes.. These guys didn’t do anything less or anything more than what I asked for, which was a relief, after many questionable experiences with other shops around the valley! These guys never failed to call me with updates! Daniel was so pleasant and kind with me. I was pleased with the final bill, but even more excited that my truck drove like brand new and that they left cookies on the seat!! I never knew this truck could be so smooth or quiet, because it’s always been loud and rough… but after ShadeTree repairs, my truck drives like new! I really couldn’t believe it. 10 out of 10, go to ShadeTree if you care about your car and your wallet, and if you like it when people are nice to you.

I needed a wheel bearing replaced on my car. The only odd noise was a quiet clunk while accelerating and stopping. I also paid for an inspection of my car. Pros : Russ was very upfront and honest. He did not attempt to upsell me on unnecessary work and in fact noted that wheel bearings did not need to be replaced in pairs. He identified seriously worn tires caused by the bad wheel bearing. Put simply, this inspection saved me some serious heartache! Cons: Too expensive for routine maintenance. Price quoted for oil change was significantly higher than my other trusted place. Overall, would trust with big repairs. Thank-you brownies were a nice bonus.

4/21/2020 Well I’m back to tell another story. In March of this year, my father passed away. It was his wishes that I received his vehicle. My dad was meticulous about documenting what he thought was wrong with the vehicle, just not fixing it. I had a check engine light so I hooked up an OBDII and got many codes. Did I mention I was in Tacoma? I called Shadetree and they connected me with a good mechanic so I could get home. After I got home, my favorite Shadetree Staff gave my car an extensive checkup and returned me a safe and almost brand new car! No matter at home or states over, Shadetree is my only choice!! Special thanks to Russ, Lisa, and all the gang for giving the over and above! I had a show stopping mechanical problem and Shadetree jumped right on it. They sent a tow vehicle to my home and took my car right over. I received a call from Lisa who advised me what the process would be.the next day I received a call identifying the problem and they went to work. I got my car back the next duty day and was very impressed. Thank you Lisa, Russ, and the whole team. I will be back! I drive to and from Idaho every week. I had a minor problem that turned out to be a faulty wire. I asked to have a once over and also identified a couple of issues that had been bothering me. They took care of my problems and got me back up and running. These good care and they go out of their way to prove it. They are my go to shop! Great team! 5 Nov 18 Had to get winter ready and get some preventative maintenance done. Shadetree again took care of me, got me right in and gave me a loner to boot. Shadetree is where I take the cars in our family that I want to last for 300k miles. Some work can be more expensive, but the value is definitely there. They run a full diagnostic inspection with easy to understand "traffic light" red, yellow and green indicators that show the health of your vehicle with detailed notes on each issue. Couple that with candid conversations with a specialist who gives you the pros and cons of fixing issues now or holding off on potential repairs. Very little pressure to repair things unnecessarily now, with the understanding of what future costly repairs you could incur if you ignore the problem for too long. Add the convenience of a loaner car to drive around and the security that my family is in a safe and reliable vehicle makes me very happy to continue to give them my business and refer family and friends to them as well. We have used Shadetree for years when my husband doesn't have time to do a repair himself. We love them. Always professional. Our old 2005 Kia Hyundai was having issues with the AC. Instead of replacing the whole thing they recharged it and did a full diagnostic on the rest of the car. Edit: 5/5/2021 I returned to Shade Tree with our Prius after taking it to a closer shop for what I thought would be a simple job of putting in new spark plugs to fix rough driving and a check engine light. The other shop had it twice for a week each time and the problem was still unresolved. I got fed up with the other shop and drove it down to Shade Tree. In just over a day they figured out the real problem and made a plan to fix it. Turns out the other shop put in the wrong spark plugs and missed the actual problem (needed new fuel injectors). Shade Tree ordered the parts and had everything fixed the day the parts arrived in their shop. Now the problem is actually fixed and I don’t have to worry about it. They also guarantee their work for 3 years. I don’t know why I ever go anywhere else first. Shade Tree always fixes things right the very first time. Their prices are average, but their expertise is top notch. Thanks, Brian! Fast, good, and friendly service. I wish my car hadn’t had problems at all, but this is the place to go if you need service. I brought my car in for something else, but they figured out that one of my rear shocks was blown. They fixed it and my car drives SO much better now. The difference is unbelievable! They were able to resolve my other problem without a bunch of expensive parts, just some re-wiring. I’m always happy with the service here and will return next time my car needs anything.

An extra nice thing about Shadetree is that you can schedule a ride to and from the shop, and that service really came in handy this time as I didn't have another way to get to and from the shop. (They also have loaner vehicles which I didn't need this time, but have used in the past. Who offers service like that other than Shadetree, not to mention the tow service which is free if your repairs are over a certain amount?! These services alone can save you hundreds and hundreds of dollars easy!) At this visit Shadetree replaced the valve cover gaskets and did a tune-up on my van. The van is ten years old and has over 250K miles, but it runs like new now and I still can't quite believe the improved gas mileage (I honestly thought maybe the fuel gauge was broken at first as the needle hardly moved)! It ran so well after the tuneup, I had to take a closer look to make sure it was the same van. 🙂 When I got the van a few months ago I brought it to Shadetree first thing, where they did a thorough inspection and gave me a detailed list of work that needed to be done, in order of importance. It's been a tremendous help with budgeting for car maintenance. Shadetree is a wonderful place and I'm so glad to have discovered them. I had shadetree replace my tires and do a transmission flush on my SUV. They were very friendly , explained everything very well and gave me a loaner vehicle for the day while they worked on my car. I was text a report on my car, top to bottom of all major parts. They were very thorough, but did not pressure me at all. The price for my service was cheaper than the shop I’ve used previously as well. I would absolutely recommend them, and will use them again. The service all around was 10/10.

Update| The truck has had a problem since my dad purchased it, the oil pressure gauge was not working properly. I used the after-hours key drop and by 2:30 pm the next day Russ (the mechanic who looked at the car) texted me a link to his detailed report on it. I made the mistake of taking my van elsewhere for an oil change, but this other place said they weren’t able to remove the filter without breaking something and sent me on my way. I did what I should have done in the first place and left the van with Shadetree. It turns out the other shop had done some damage they didn’t tell me about and a new part needed to be ordered. When the part wouldn’t arrive for a few days, Russ was able to find a work-around and the van was ready to go in plenty of time for my trip. Shadetree Automotive is a very professional auto repair facility! I worked with Brian and Tyler and was able to get my vehicle diagnosed and fixed within a couple of days. The staff is very professional and were able to answer all of my questions and concerns. They were very thorough by providing test data to back up items for repairs. They also provided a list of critical repairs that need to be fixed immediately and a list of components which will need to be replaced in the future. After getting my vehicle fixed, the heater lines broke and I spent the day making the repairs myself. To be confident I corrected the issues I called Brian and gave him a rundown of what I did. He was able to confirm I properly corrected the issue and gave me a few things to look for. This is a great shop with great service. It is a little more costly, but the customer service, quality, timely response, and repairs makes it worth it. We have two cars being repaired at this location with minor and major repairs that took an average of 1 week each to fix. I had a check engine light concern and with winter approaching I didn't want to take any chances. Once there their fantastic diagnosis team found the problem (fuel rail system problem) and they found some very dangerous problems with my lower control arms and tie rod problems. So they put in a new fuel rail control which made my car run so much better (like new actually) more pickup and great acceleration. Also my front end is much tighter and feels awesome. My car feels like new and all done a couple of days before the snow! GREAT TIMING!! Of course I would rather NOT have to send my car to this or any auto repair shop and I was frustrated that I could not figure out the issue on my own... All that said, Shadetree made everything VERY easy for me. Within an hour of calling they had a tow truck here and they started working on the car 2 days before promised. I really like the text communication with the link to their initial assessment explaining everything that was checked and what is recommended. Talking with them on the phone I always felt like they knew exactly what was going on and exactly what I expected. They always take care of me and my cars. I installed a K&N lifetime air filter in my 2016 Murano, after several months the check engine light came on. The mechanic figured out that the problem was with the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) because it was coated in oil... from the air filter. They cleaned the sensor and replaced the filter and drove the car to make sure the check engine light would stay off. A new air filter was much less expensive than a new sensor. I have been taking my cars to Shadetree for years. After taking one car to another shop the other shop recommended a transmission service. They then did not refill it properly. I had to get a whole new transmission. The other shops response: That is not our fault. It is your responsibility. I was on the hunt for a new place. Flash forward to now. I took my car in on a Wednesday, they drove it and could not get it to do what I said it did. The techs worked on it for a minute and kept driving it to try to make it do what I said it did. NO LUCK. What did they do? Give it back and say sorry. Nope. They said that last time it came in it was X that was causing it so they warrantied out the part and the labor (replaced it for FREE). Their service is second to none. I know they are a little bit more expensive than the average shop but that allows them to keep the TOP techs in the industry and the value we get is well worth it. Not to mention the entire time they had my crappy 03 Infinity, I had their 2020 Honda. I am their customer for life. Tom, Lisa, Russ, Brian, Daniel, and Justin have ALWAYS taken great care of me. I would recommend them to ANYONE i know (and even those I don't...you reading this!). Thanks Shadetree!!

This place is seriously fantastic, I could not have asked for more in a car repair shop! It was recommended by a friend and I am very glad it was. They took the time to really dig in to find out what the problem was with my vehicle, even keeping it over the weekend to make sure the heard the sound right after it sat a while. They run a full diagnostic telling you what the urgent needs are and what the not so urgent needs are, as well as the details of the repairs that should be made. They send this in a text to you to review then call back to discuss. I felt they were very honest and I loved that they were always communicating with me so I knew what was going on 100% of the time. They gave me the exact prices and told me exactly how much each service would cost. They offered 6 months interest free financing, which we didn’t end up taking advantage of, but the option was nice. The best part was they were able to loan me a vehicle for the time they were looking at and fixing mine, even when they just had it over the weekend when they were closed! Once I had the report (which is an amazing product) in hand I was able to do my own research and decide myself what work I wanted them to do and what I would handle. Being my vehicle is older and some of the parts have had time to rust together, there was a slight delay, but I was informed the entire time. Nothing short of an amazing experience. I have a Porsche Macan S, and one day, a lot of the electronics went out in the car. Including navigation, my speedometers, and the car defaulted back to German. I called around to my local Porsche dealerships, none of which have ever heard of this problem happening. As a woman it’s difficult to know who to really trust and I have self only used professional garages for this reason. But my truck requires maintenance be someone who knows the ford diesel 6.0 liter engine and the reviews took me there. They are professional and helpful, send you the information on any issues that may be going on with your vehicle and clearly rate them as urgent or not so. This is where I’ve never known where to trust mechanics that I haven't known.. but this where I get to the best part, what I really like about them. They show/send of each relevant issue so I can see what they are saying. So, yes I would recommend them- ???? Im just saying they’re as good as bacon!

I was driving southbound from Ogden, when my tire blew out. I live in Orem which is about an hour and a half away from where I was stranded. Shadetree was the place I was fortunate to get towed to. They told me they most likely would not be able to get me in until the next day, until I explained my situation of being very far from home. After that, they promised they could order tires the day of and get them put on before the day way over. So that I was not bored, they even had me take a shuttle over to the mall while I waited for them to finish up. Apparently, my rim was a tiny bit busted but they were able to move the rim to the back and balance out my car so I didn’t have to buy that too. I highly recommend Shadetree if you live in the area or, if like me, you find yourself breaking down on the freeway just outside of Layton.

I brought my car in for something else, but they figured out that one of my rear shocks was blown. They fixed it and my car drives SO much better now. The difference is unbelievable! Recently I had taken my 2010 Acura TSX into the Acura dealership & they were wanting me to replace an entire engine harnessing for $2,000. I did my shopping around and had found Shadetree Automotive from a Facebook recommendation to get my vehicle fixed. I took into consideration about the amount of good stars and good reviews this place had on their website. Once I took in my vehicle they had repaired my vehicle for less than $1,000 for the repairs I needed on my car that needed to be as soon as we could. Of course there are some more repairs I need for my Acura but for now it’s fixed and running better than I’ve had it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs their vehicle fixed. They’re not only wanting to take your money but they also care about the lifespan of the vehicle. I’ve taken my car into many places and this place seems to care about my Acura & I. This is the best car repair place I have ever been to. First of all they are really kind there and they do good work. I ask for a diagnostic for my car after it started having issues. They did a good and in depth diagnostic. They make a page for your vehicle about what good, what could need fixing in the future, and the important problems and how they would fix it. I had some issues with my engine and they fixed it. Still costs a lot, but I would expect that from any place.

Patient even if you are grumpy (I was initially) competitive prices, charged less than recommended MSRP on parts I needed. A coworker referred me to Shadetree Automotive and I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience. I got my oil changed through Shadetree on Friday, I brought it home and overnight to Saturday, I came to see that it leaked oil on my driveway. I messaged the Facebook page as they’re closed weekends. I got a response on Sunday (today) and Tom offered to meet me at the shop and take a look at it. It was a super easy fix and he even gave me a loaner car to take while he checked it out. Unknowing to me, he also washed me care and filled up my gas tank! I was almost in tears when I saw and I cannot thank him enough. I will recommend this place to anyone ANYONE that I come across for any car problems. I contacted several auto repair shops before reaching out to Shadetree to fix my air-conditioner. Not only was the staff polite on the phone, but they were able to give me a basic overview of their diagnostic process and what they would need to do to locate the issue. No other shop would even attempt to give me information| they all said, "well, it depends." I understand that no mechanic knows what they are dealing with prior to looking at the car but I felt really reassured that Shadetree would at least tell me where they were going to start. When I got to the shop, their service did not disappoint. They were kind and offered me a ride while my car was fixed. Once the technician was able to look at my car, Shadetree emailed me a detailed inspection report WITH PICTURES of the issues that they found with my air conditioner as well as other points that I may want to watch out for based on mileage or what the mechanic saw (your front breaks are wearing thin (again with pictures to verify), your emissions looks to be coming due, etc.). I called back and accepted some services and refused many others and they did not make me feel bad about waiting on some things. Most mechanics try to pressure you into buying additional services now, even when it isn't totally necessary but maybe "preventative". Shadetree fixed my car much faster than they had quoted me. I was able to pick it up the same day and was treated very, very well while I was there. I felt honestly and fairly dealt with the entire time and would absolutely go back. At the end of the day, they left some fresh cookies in my car which is really no big deal EXCEPT for to a mom that went an entire day shuttling kids without her regular wheels. That little touch was just the right way to end the experience. These guys are two thumbs up from me.

What a great experience! I haven’t had customer service like this in a long time. Everyone was happy and pleasant to work with. They even offered to wait 15-20min on a Friday night after closing so that I get up there and pick up my truck because I was unable to do so during the day. The repair cost was also a nice surprise. I had initially taken my truck to a large dealer who quoted me a price, I then called ShadeTree and they were a couple hundred dollars less. Great experience, great work and great people!

For overall experience I give a full 5 stars. Very nice on the phone. They always answer and they always get back to you. I love that they send a list of things with your car in a health report. The Tech Brian was amazing and made sure to answer all my questions. I never felt rushed and my car is doing way better than before going in to ShadeTree! My only complaint is that I see new paint scratches I did not see before but I’m not letting that affect the review because it was parked outside of their shop for two days after it was done. Went in for my 90,000 mile check up. The technitions evaluated all the tune up requirements and sent me a text explaining each of the items necessary to keep the engine running smoothly and efficiently. Brought my truck in for a possible head gasket leak. It was found that my head gasket was blown, but since the truck had almost 200,000 miles on it, it was suggested that an engine swap would need to be done. A relatively low-mileage engine was sourced quickly, and a new engine (along with new wires/hoses/belts) were installed within a week. The free loaner car was the cherry on top. Price was a little high compared to other places, but I feel like quality work and a long warranty that they stand behind is worth it. Looking forward to continued business in the future.

I recently brought in my truck because I wasnt able to figure out exactly what was wrong with it. The staff and maintenance team notified me within a few hours of dropping it off what several issues could have led to the problems I was having. Not only were the prices reasonable but they were 100% transparent with their estimate, and even though there was an additional part needed which would have been another $60 they kept the first estimate and didnt charge me a penny more. If your nervous about bringing your vehicle in you shouldn't be they send you a detailed report with pictures of anything they deem note worthy and what they recommend to be done. What a wonderful small business I will be recommending this place to anyone who asks.

This was really helpful, since I'm not familiar with cars beyond the basics. Most places just prattle it off to you and by the time you're off the phone you've forgotten what the problem was. Brian was the tech that took care of my car. He was great. He took the time to explain the issues in my report and help me decide what to do now, and what could wait (I had a lot of issues!). As a woman, it was nice to be treated like a valued customer and educated on my car| something that can be hard to find at mechanic shops. I felt very confidant that the work being done was good quality at a fair price, and actually needed. They also have very nice loaner vehicles, so I didn't need to worry about getting to work while my car was getting repairs. I'll be taking my car back to Shadetree again for additional repairs.

I brought my van to Shadetree last week to have the brakes done, oil changed and the annual emissions inspection completed. Shadetree also provided a detailed report of what needed to be done right away as well as repairs/services that would need to be done in the near future but weren't urgent.
